European Mobility Week is a WEEK celebrated in Europe to promote alternative mobility, namely walking, cycling, public transport and the massive movement of people and goods. Realized since 2002, it has been established as the most important institution at European level to promote sustainable mobility standards and therefore to develop and develop environmental morale. During this week cities and agencies that want to promote sustainable travel and road safety celebrate it in a variety of ways on streets and squares by organizing a multitude of actions. The aim of the actions implemented between 16 and 22 September each year is to encourage European local authorities to introduce and promote sustainable modes of transport and to raise citizens' awareness of alternative transport options in their city.
The campaign this year has the theme "Safe walking and cycling" and the main motto is "Let's walk together!"
The Municipality of Heraklion Crete, in the context of the above, organizes a multitude of activities and events for young and old alike and the 11th GYMNASIO OF HERAKLION is taking action!
